Sponsor an Orphan
As in most of the countries under development, there are many orphans. But, contrary to other nations, these children normally do not go to an orphanage. They are taken in by a member of the family, a neigbhbour or acquaintance. In this way the child continues living a normal family life. These families are usually poor since more than 50% of the country’s population lives in extreme poverty (almost a 90% of Boyo Division). There is no Social Security, education is not free, neither are the visits to the doctor or hospital. If a family cannot pay the schooling expenses neither the books, the children will not attend school. Life in Cameroon is very hard but if, on top of this, one or both parents die, life can become desperate.
The families who take in an orphan will be able to provide him/her with housing and the basic food, but very often there are not enough funds to send them to school. That is why the Sponsor an Orphan project was set up.

| - from EUR 22,50/month you can sponsor an orphan from Boyo.(the duration of the sponsorhip will depend on the age of the child at the start and if you want to support him/her during primary and secondary school or also througout professional studies).

- schoolfees will be paid- a uniform and school material will be bought
- exam fees will be paid (if applicable) - 1x year there will be a doctors’ visit (HIV test inclusive) - 3 after school lessons per week (+ 1 glass of melk, 1 piece of fruit and a vitamine pill) - 2x year clothing and shoes - medical assistance and medicines (if needed) - personal attention from the field workers of Berudep - self esteem and security knowing that someone in the West takes care of him/her. |

- set up an automatic transfer at your bank (you can pay each month, 2, 3, 6 or once a year) - you can eventually write your foster child |
- 2 newsletters /year (via e-mail) from the Sponsor an Orphan team in Belo - 1 complete file + letter/drawing from the child each 6-8 months (income and expense statement inclusive)
- the satisfaction of giving someone the chance of getting a better present and a brighter future |
